I previously created Quality over Quantity: N8N Job Hunter, a N8N tool that searches for open roles, scores them against a candidate profile, and enhances the results with suggestions on how the candidate can best position themselves for the role.
I was positively surprised with the high quality of the results and I wanted to go one step further.
Technically, as a programmer, it is nice to have more control over the capabilities of the tool, especially for the handling of AI requests and responses. In terms of capabilities, I wanted it to act like a good coach: one that gets to know you first, and only then offers you ideas that fit you, and show you jobs that you may not have thought about on your own.
We all are multi-faceted and unique with each our passions, our strengths, and also our pet-peeves. The Ikigai concept manages to include all of our human complexity into a useful frame that helps us find unique opportunities balancing everything that we are.
The perfect jobs would lay at the center.
Therefore, the perfect job hunter would certainly get to know you first and try to build your Ikigai, before talking about any job. It starts with you, it doesn't start with a job.
I set the first idea on paper, put it aside and completely forgot about it. I did something else for a few months, then coded iki, and then randomly found this piece of paper. I was surprised to see this cute round face in the center: it was here from the beginning! Even as I had forgotten it.
The first step for iki is to ask questions that will guide us in building our Ikigai
Based on the answers to the questions, iki will build an ikigai profile for the candidate

After creating the ikigai profile, iki makes suggestions for jobs that would be a fantastic fit for this candidate
Powered by Adzuna API, iki then find jobs that are relevant to the candidate. Iki provides a fit score, a summary of the offer, and some tips for applying!
Contrarily to many AI-based services for candidates, who either massively apply, or create the resumes and cover letters of candidates, iki simply curates and provides tips.
Like a real coach, iki does NOT do the work for the candidate, but guides and empowers the candidate to become better.
After all, if this is indeed the perfect job, the connection must be authentic and human 🫶
